Aditya Shrivastava ("we," "our," "us") operates BetterStory ("the App"), a serialized interactive-fiction reading app. This policy explains what we collect and how we handle it. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

What We Collect

• Sign-in details — Your email (or Apple's private relay address) from Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, used only to create and secure your account.
• Purchase status — Your subscription status and coin balance, so we can give you access to what you paid for. We never receive or store your payment card details.
• Basic analytics — Anonymous product-usage events (story progress, choices, unlocked chapters, reading activity) and limited technical data (app version, device type) to keep the App working and improve it.

We do not sell your data, track you across other apps for advertising, or build profiles about who you are.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of services to run the App:

• Apple — Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases
• Google — Google Sign-In and Google Play purchases
• RevenueCat — manages subscriptions and in-app purchases
• Mixpanel — third-party analytics service for basic, anonymous usage data

Where applicable, data processed by these services is stored in the EU.

Data Retention

We keep your account data until you delete your account. Purchase records may be retained where required for accounting, fraud prevention, or store-policy reasons.

Your Rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing admin@bychance.xyz.

Deleting Your Account

Open the App, go to Settings, and tap "Delete Account" — or email admin@bychance.xyz. This permanently removes your account and data, except limited records we must keep by law. Active subscriptions must also be cancelled in your Apple or Google account settings.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit and secure sign-in through Apple and Google. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard it.

Children

BetterStory is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be shown in the App and reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.

Europe (GDPR)

We process your data to provide the App (contract), to keep it secure and improve it (legitimate interests), and with your consent where required. Our providers store this data in the EU. You have rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability, and may complain to your local data protection authority. Contact admin@bychance.xyz.

California (CCPA)

We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising. California residents may request to know, delete, or correct their data, and will not be discriminated against for doing so. Contact admin@bychance.xyz.

India (DPDP Act, 2023)

We act as a Data Fiduciary. You may access, correct, and erase your data and raise grievances with Aditya Shrivastava at admin@bychance.xyz. You may withdraw consent at any time.

Indonesia (PDP Law, 2022)

If you are in Indonesia, you may access, correct, erase, and withdraw consent for your data. Contact admin@bychance.xyz.
